Common Issues

I'm Not Seeing Results Yet

It's normal to feel impatient when you've started treatment and aren't yet seeing the results you expected. Here's an honest breakdown of what to expect and why early results vary.

Month One: Building a Foundation

The first month of GLP-1 treatment is primarily an adjustment period. Your starting dose is intentionally conservative—designed for your body to adapt, not for maximum effect. During this time:

  • Appetite suppression usually begins within the first 1–2 weeks

  • Side effects (nausea, fatigue) are most pronounced early and improve over time

  • Weight loss in month one is typically modest—around 2–5 lbs on average

This is normal. The first month establishes tolerability, not dramatic results.

Results Build Over Time

Most meaningful weight loss and treatment outcomes occur in months 2 through 6 and beyond, as your dose is adjusted and your eating patterns change. Progress timelines vary significantly between individuals based on:

  • Starting weight and body composition

  • Metabolism and individual response to medication

  • Dietary habits and activity levels

  • Dose progression

Comparing your results to others is not useful—everyone responds differently.

Non-Scale Wins to Notice

Results don't always show up on the scale first. Watch for these signs that the medication is working:

  • Reduced appetite or feeling full faster

  • Smaller portions feeling satisfying

  • Less frequent cravings or food thoughts

  • Improved blood sugar regulation (if applicable)

  • More consistent energy levels

When to Contact Your Provider

If you've completed at least one full month and feel the medication is having no effect at all—no appetite changes, no fullness, no shift in eating patterns—reach out to the clinical team through your patient portal. They can evaluate your response and determine if a dose adjustment is appropriate.

Do not request a dose increase too early. Most providers adjust doses approximately once per month based on your response, tolerability, and progress. Rushing increases can cause stronger side effects without meaningfully improving results.

Lifestyle Factors That Support Results

GLP-1 medications work best when combined with supportive habits:

  • Focus on protein-rich foods—they help preserve muscle and support satiety

  • Stay hydrated, especially if appetite is reduced

  • Light to moderate movement supports mood, metabolism, and muscle

  • Consistency with your dosing schedule matters

The medication reduces appetite—building sustainable habits around that is what drives long-term success.
